Chelsea Piers offers triathlon-training programs for every level of athlete, from novice to expert, by offering a variety of levels, instructional forums, and individualized programming. Athletes are encouraged to pursue and attain his or her individual goals. With a 25-yard, 6-lane pool, ¼-mile indoor track, spinning studio, new Keiser spin bikes and a location alongside the Hudson River Park bikeway/walkway, The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers is uniquely qualified to provide the most comprehensive triathlon-training program in New York City. Whether you are a beginner and don’t know where to start, or an athlete who has already competed in a triathlon and is looking to improve your performance, the Sports Center Triathlon Camp will get you on the right training track.
Chelsea Piers trainers and triathlon experts, Scott Berlinger and Andrew Kalley, have put together a half-day program that is fun, safe and educational - including an actual triathlon workout. Athletes will experience the thrill and camaraderie of group triathlon training within the world-class sports facilities of the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers, all under the watchful eye of top triathlon coaches.
Triathlon Camp will teach you how to develop an effective training program, while also touching on such topics as race preparation, training vs. racing gear, and improving transitions. Our professional coaches also address injury prevention during training and races. Participants receive individualized attention, so specific needs can be identified and addressed.

An entry-level program for athletes of all ability levels. Athletes are strongly encouraged to compete in a triathlon but it is not a requirement. Level I meets three days per week for one hour. Each day focuses on basic fundamentals of the three components of triathlon: biking, swimming or running.

Andrew Kalley Bio
Andrew Kalley has been coaching and working with Scott Berlinger at the Sports Center since 2006. Kalley is a USA Triathlon Level 2 coach and accomplished athlete, having taken second overall in the Mighty Montauk this year, winning the West Point Triathlon and winning his division in the USTA Club Nationals. Kalley was Assistant Coach and a leading competitor of the Full Throttle Racing team, guiding them to their three USA Triathlon National Team Championsip titles and their back-to-back victories at the NYC Triathlon Team Challenge.

Full Throttle, an 8-week, high-intensity triathlon training program for Sports Center members only, led by Elite trainer Scott Berlinger, is geared towards all aspects of triathlon racing.

Scott Berlinger Bio
Scott Berlinger is a USA Triathlon Level 2 coach and a long-time Elite Level trainer at the Sports Center health club at Chelsea Piers. He led the Full Throttle Endurance Racing team, who makes its home at the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers, to the USA Triathlon National Team Victory the past three years and has also led the team to two consecutive NYC Triathlon wins (2008 and 2009). Berlinger, besides being a nationally acclaimed coach, also has many personal accomplishments including the Lake Placid Ironman, more than 14 first or second place division finishes in various triathlons including the NYC Tri, US Nationals, Mighty Montauk and West Point Triathlons and was named a top five trainer in America by Men’s Journal magazine. Prior to training at Chelsea Piers, Berlinger was one of the Gladiators, Viper, on the hit television show American Gladiator.
All levels of triathlon competitors are welcome, from beginners to seasoned veterans. Interested club members are encouraged to join, regardless of ability level. Full Throttle covers all aspects of triathlon training, including:

Looking to supplement your Triathlon Training or take a more individual approach to your race preparation? The Sports Center has options. Work a personal trainer who specializes in triathlons, join our Masters Swim Team, participate in the CP Running class or simply take one of our Spin Classes throughout the week.
